Smart cars are the perfect city car and rather specialized vehicles at that. Which is why it’s wise to seek repairs through a Smart authorized dealer, who has firsthand knowledge of your vehicle, as well as being up to date in the latest service bulletins as issued by the manufacturer’s headquarters.

In the case of a Smart car on lease, many car leases including those originating from Mercedes-Benz Financial Services USA LLC (Smart’s parent company), will require the use of genuine Smart original equipment parts when making your car whole again.

While independent shops or automotive service centers may offer attractive rates, you can be assured Smart Car dealers will be using genuine Smart parts in performing repairs. Complimentary diagnostic checks and a tire rotation are available early on at your Smart Car service departments, although pre-paid maintenance plans are available that lock in tomorrow’s service at today’s prices. Training

Since your Smart vehicle will likely be serviced at a Mercedes-Benz dealer, you can be assured the service mechanics and technicians will be up to date on the latest techniques available through the Mercedes Technician Training Program. These include courses by the Mercedes-Benz Certified Collision Program training school where mechanics and technicians are instructed in the latest techniques for paint, body and electrical/mechanical repairs.

Loan car policy

If your Smart car is in for a warranty-covered repair, some Smart/Mercedes-Benz dealers may offer complimentary loaner vehicles. If you are a regular customer of a particular dealer, some may offer loaner cars for repairs taking more than two hours. Because of the limited number of loaners, you should call ahead for a service appointment and loaner availability. If your car is in for collision repair, and the dealer has no available loaners, your insurance policy may cover the costs of securing a rental vehicle. Collision repairs

Your Smart USA vehicle will likely be repaired by technicians trained by The Mercedes-Benz Certified Collision Program. Group members are either Smart/Mercedes-Benz dealer body shops or highly-regarded independent shops who work on Smart cars which have been in collisions. These certified shops are authorized to use and receive specialized Smart Car tools and equipment for a specific repair.
