Rolls-Royce Recalls

Rolls-Royce has had some of its vehicles recalled in recent years, although most of the recent campaigns involved airbag related issues. As BMW owns Rolls-Royce, many of the luxury brand’s cars were included in larger recalls of BMW and Mini branded vehicles. These programs affected Ghost, Dawn and Phantom models.

In 2018, BMW issued a recall for a number of vehicles including the 2011-2012 Rolls-Royce Ghost. The electric auxiliary water pump may fail causing the circuit board to overheat and possibly catch fire. As of June 2018, completion rate data has yet to be published.

Airbag-related recalls include a 2018 notice for three 2018 Rolls Royce Ghosts that may have had their side curtain airbags damaged during assembly. A year earlier, the 2017 Rolls-Royce Dawn was part of a larger recall including some BMW and Mini vehicles for seat-mounted side airbag inflator initiators that may fail to ignite during a crash. As of April 2018, the completion rate for this recall was 56.1 percent. Finally, in 2015, a single Rolls-Royce Ghost was recalled for a mislabeled side airbag.

In 2013, Rolls-Royce recalled 27 Phantom sedans for a missing anti-misfueling device. Without this device, there is an increased risk of fire from static electricity. As of April 2013, the completion rate for this recall was 100 percent.
