Ram Recall History

Check your Ram’s Vehicle Identification Number or VIN at KBB’s Car Recalls above.

New and older model Ram pickups were part of two large recalls in 2017 for airbag sensing issues and rollaway risks. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV recalled more than 1 million 2013-16 Ram 1500 pickups, Ram 2500 pickups and 2014-16 Ram 3500 heavy-duty trucks for rollover side curtain airbags and seat belt pretensioners that may not deploy. The problem is a sensor defect and the remedy is a software update. The automaker said it knew of one death, two injuries and two accidents that may be related to the defect. Fiat Chrysler said the recall completion rate was 55.4 percent as of April 2018, the latest data available.

In late 2017, Fiat Chrysler also called back 1.48 million trucks over an issue where vehicle occupants could move steering column-mounted gear shifters out of park without the key in the ignition or their foot on the brake. The automaker said it knew of seven possible related injuries and some possible accidents related to the problem.

The unintended rollaway recall includes 2010-17 Ram 2500 and 3500 heavy-duty pickups, 2011-17 Ram 3500, 4500 and 5500 chassis cabs, 2016-17 Ram 3500 chassis cabs with gross vehicle weight rating of less than 10,000 pounds and 2009-17 Ram 1500 pickups. The problem is related to a possible faulty Brake Transmission Shift Interlock. The recall remedy includes a software update and inspecting the BTSI and if necessary, replacing it. Fiat Chrysler said just 12,389 vehicles had been fixed as of April 2018, the latest data available.

Some newer Rams also are part of a large 4.8 million vehicle May 2018 recall over risks of possibly not being able to cancel cruise control. Rams recalled include 2014-19 Ram 1500 pickups, 2014-18 Ram 2500 and 3500 pickups, 2014-18 Ram 3500 cab chassis and 4500/5500 cab chassis. Customers have been advised not to use cruise control until their vehicles are fixed with a software update. Recall completion information is not yet available, Fiat Chrysler says.
