Lotus Maintenance Schedules Q&A

Lotus Maintenance Pricing & Schedules

When you think of Lotus Cars, a couple of names come to the fore. Engineering wizard Colin Chapman founded the company in 1952. Racing legend Jim Clark put the company’s name on the podium and many racing trophies along the way. It hasn’t always been easy, in fact it still isn’t. But under the guidance of Zhejiang Geely Holding Group (also known as Geely-owners of the Volvo Cars), Lotus is a bit of better off than it once was.

Group Lotus PLC is the formal business name of the company which is divided into Lotus Cars and Lotus Engineering. The firm’s engineering prowess has touched many cars on the road today including those powered by General Motors Ecotec brand, and chassis engineering on the Genesis G80 vehicles.

Lotus Maintenance Guidelines

The Lotus Evora is protected by a 3-year/36,000-mile limited warranty that is transferable to a subsequent buyer provided that transfer occurs within the warranty period. Lotus also has an 8-year/unlimited mileage perforation warranty that starts on the day of purchase for the vehicle.

7,500 Miles or 6 Months

The company recommends a service schedule that takes into consideration your driving style and distance since the last service. Under normal conditions, the brand recommends replacing the oil and oil filter every 7,500 miles or six months, whichever occurs first.

Heavier Driving: 4,500 Miles or 6 Months

If you find that your driving includes a lot of stop and go traffic, heavy idling, or cruising over and around mountainous terrain, Lotus recommends an oil change every 4,000 miles or six months, instead.

45,000 Miles or 6 Years

A change of transmission fluid is recommended every 45,000 miles or six years, whichever occurs first. Lotus also calls for the engine air filter and spark plugs to be changed every 30,000 miles or six years, again whichever occurs first. Lotus also suggests annual replacement of brake and clutch fluid every year as well as new engine coolant every four years.

Extended Warranty Programs

Although Lotus Cars do not offer an extended warranty or pre-paid maintenance plan, certain Lotus Dealers offer such warranties through third-party providers. We suggest checking with owner’s forums and enthusiast postings to get a feel for who is best equipped to provide coverage for your Lotus.

Depending on the individual plans, they can offer services and benefits that include rental car coverage, towing coverage, travel interruption coverage, transferability and the ability to include the cost of an extended warranty plan into the financing of your vehicle if selected at the time of initial purchase.
