Summary

Kia America, Inc. (Kia) is recalling certain 2024 EV9 vehicles. A software error may cause the remote smart parking assist feature, which allows the operator to remotely move the vehicle, to miscalculate stopping distances. A remote smart parking assist feature that miscalculates stopping distances may increase the risk of a crash.

Remedy

Dealers will update the integrated electronic brake software, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed October 18, 2024. Owners may contact Kia customer service at 1-800-333-4542. Kia’s number for this recall is SC324.

Summary

Kia America, Inc. (Kia) is recalling certain 2020-2024 Telluride vehicles. The front power seat motor may overheat due to a stuck power seat slide knob, which can result in a fire while parked or driving. A fire increases the risk of injury.

Remedy

Owners are advised to park outside and away from structures until the recall repair is complete. Dealers will install a bracket for the power seat switch back covers and replace the seat slide knobs, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed July 30, 2024. Summary

Kia America, Inc. (Kia) is recalling certain 2020-2024 Telluride vehicles. The intermediate shaft and right front driveshaft may not be fully engaged, which can result in vehicle roll away while in PARK. A vehicle roll away increases the risk of a crash or injury.

Remedy

Owners are advised to manually engage the emergency parking brake prior to exiting the vehicle until the recall remedy is performed. Dealers will update the electronic parking brake software and replace any damaged intermediate shafts as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed May 15, 2024. Summary

Kia America, Inc. (Kia) is recalling certain 2022-2024 EV6 vehicles. The Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) may become damaged and stop charging the 12-Volt battery, which can result in a loss of drive power. A loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash.

Remedy

Dealers will inspect and replace the ICCU and its fuse, as necessary. In addition, dealers will update the ICCU software. All repairs will be performed free of charge. Summary

Kia America, Inc. (Kia) is recalling certain 2019-2020 K900, and 2018-2023 Stinger vehicles equipped with a 3.3-liter turbo gasoline direct injection engine. The left turbocharger oil feed pipe and hose assembly may deteriorate and leak oil. An oil leak in the presence of hot engine components can increase the risk of an engine compartment fire while driving.

Remedy

Summary

Kia America, Inc. (Kia) is recalling certain 2009-2014 Borrego vehicles. The headliner plates may not be secured properly, which can result in the plates detaching in the event of a side curtain air bag deployment. A headliner plate that detaches during a crash may strike an occupant, increasing their risk of injury.

Remedy

Summary

Kia America, Inc. (Kia) is recalling certain 2010-2019 Borrego, 2014-2016 Cadenza, 2010-2013 Forte, Forte Koup, Sportage, 2015-2018 K900, 2011-2015 Optima, 2011-2013 Optima Hybrid, Soul, 2012-2017 Rio, 2011-2014 Sorento, and 2010-2011 Rondo vehicles. The Hydraulic Electronic Control Unit (HECU) may experience an electrical short, which can result in an engine compartment fire while parked or driving. An engine compartment fire while parked or driving can increase the risk of injury.

Remedy

Owners are advised to park outside and away from structures until the recall repair is complete. Dealers will replace the HECU fuse, free of charge. Over the past few years, Kia cars and crossovers have been recalled for faulty trailer hitch modules, power sliding doors, oil seal leaks, faulty steering systems and improperly assembled accelerator components. Among the highlights:

Kia has recalled 27,029 model year 2017 Kia Niro Hybrid SUVs for a fault with the Hydraulic Clutch Actuator (HCA), where the inner oil seal may leak possibly resulting in an electrical short and increased risk of fire. As the recall is so new, there is no completion rate data at this time.

Kia has a campaign involving 10,212 of their 2017 Sportage models equipped with an accessory trailer hitch that has a faulty module that may cause the trailer brake lights to be constantly illuminated. As of April 2018, there is a completion rate of 62-percent.

There is also a Kia recall of 106,428 model year 2017 Kia Sedona minivans for a power sliding door that may not auto-reverse. The recall began in June 2018. There is no data of completion rates.

Kia also recalled 12,361 model year 2016 Kia Sorento SUVs for an improperly soldered component in the accelerator assembly, that may cause an inability to accelerate the vehicle, resulting in an increased risk of crash. As of July 2016, there was a completion rate of 97-percent.

Over 340,000 2015 Kia Soul and Kia Soul EV SUVs were recalled for a significant fault in the steering system, where the steering gear may separate. The pinion plug may allow the pinion gear to separate from the steering gear assembly, increasing the risk of a crash. As of April 2018, the completion rate stood at 43-percent.
